In my journey through various roles in education – from classroom teacher to coach and now as the director of digital learning design – I have had the privilege of witnessing the evolution of educational practices. Technology has played a significant role in reshaping our methods of teaching and learning, offering exciting opportunities for engagement and accessibility, especially for older students.

One cannot help but appreciate that technology extends beyond the conventional boundaries of education, presenting a world of possibilities. The embedded accessibility features in technological tools have contributed to leveling the playing field, providing avenues for students with diverse learning needs to excel in previously unimaginable ways in a traditional classroom setting. From basic text-to-speech functions to more elaborate interactive simulations, technology has given educators the means to address individual learning strengths, fostering a more inclusive and dynamic learning environment.

As the director of digital learning design, I find myself at the intersection of this evolving landscape.
